If you want to push a little harder ....

West Suburban Wheelmen -- Lombard, IL

Training for Competition

R1 R6 R2 R5 R3 R7 R4

Besides having fun, the basic purpose of the WSW rides is to attain a level of skill and endurance beyond that of the casual touring cyclist. The more accomplished riders on the WSW rides will average 18-22 mph for the full distance, with short sprints reaching 30+ mph. The lead group will typically slow down to regroup after a sprint, or frequently a slower group of riders will drop off from the faster group.

Although our rides are hard, the schedule is simple:

April - November

Tu - Fri
~ 20 miles
5:00 am
Sat
~ 20 miles
6:00 am
Sun
~ 40 miles
6 am (7, also)

All rides begin and end at the Fifth Third Bank at 211 West St. Charles Ave. in Lombard. (Start/Finish map) (Large route map) Rides are cancelled when the roads are icy or the temperature is below 30 o F.

Requirements
All riders are required to wear helmets, and since many of our rides begin in the dark a set of good lights is a necessity.  A high performance bike is recommended.   There are no fees, no registration, no cranky riders (yes, even at 5 in the morning).  After the ride, enjoy a cup of coffee with the group at a local coffee shop.

Bulletin Board
Notices of club news, special rides, change in schedule, who is riding (or not).
Notices are to be emailed  to habegger4@comcast.net for posting by 9:00 pm.
